Anonymized Boards

I
Intimate Possum
As a board owner, I want to create a board that either anonymizes end users such that they are not aware of each other, or allows an end user to anonymize themselves.
This would function similar to the way that public google docs/sheets anonymize the viewers. "Anonymous Armadillo"

Anonymous boards are here! Head to your board settings and toggle on "Use user aliases in posts, comments, votes, and comment likes".
From there, your customers will see aliases for each other. You can see a live example on Canny's Integrations board. Anonymous boards are available on the Canny Growth plan and above.

I see you implemented this but only for "Growth" plans and above?
It seems really strange to paywall a privacy feature. With all the new privacy laws going up around the world, I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up getting sued somewhere for violating a privacy law. Publicly displaying names is probably a GDPR violation at the very least...
You should reconsider this, it should be available on all plans, if anything just to protect you legally.

End-users will have an alias that appears on public Canny portals. Canny admins will still be able to see who the user is and their associated info.
Note: this does not mean people can give feedback without identity information. We still believe feedback is not very useful if you don't know who it's coming from. You can set up the Canny SDK so Canny pulls existing user accounts so users don't need to create a separate account. Anonymizing will just mean that users won't be able to see each other's full names.

Sarah Hum: Does this mean users will be able to post and comment without making a Canny account?

Turn Off Names for Comments / Posts

Currently, there is an option to turn off / on for the setting. "Show names of people who vote on posts and like comments".
We would like this to be expanded to names on comments and posts as well. We are a B2B business and have multiple customers in the same board

Either as a general setting to only show anonymized user names (Anonymous Bear, ...) or give the user the option to select that.

Absolutely need this.

This would also be a very important feature for us. I really like the product but it looks like this feature could be a deal breaker for us. Our users care about their anonymity more than an average person does due to the nature of the product.

When servicing clients in the same industry, some of them are cautious about offering public feedback.
It would be nice if the names did not show up or if they were somehow concealed.
Example: "George H." without any other identifier.
