Really need the like/heart icon notification thing, pretty pleeeeeaze...
@Andrew Rasmussen @Sarah Hum maybe like GitHub reactions
Kitsu.io actually has a like button for their activity feed (not Canny related). But the design of it seems perfect for use in Canny as well:
Agreed! Just overall would really like some visibility and management with comments, as canny seems to focus only on posts.
Oh, and get a like button please. This allows people to show that they've read and liked the given answer, without having to actually write it. And the person giving the answer knows that the answer has been read and appreciated.
Great idea. Easy way for users to give feedback when they might not be willing to comment.
Came here to add the same request, and agree with @Marcin's feedback on why. I've been wanting to go and like / heart a comment multiple times for the exact reason he states: to quickly acknowledge someone's comment.
Yeah, I've tried to "like" a few comments already. No need for the full post, but definitely a nice-to-have for comments. Agree wholeheartedly that this is a good way to say, "I read this and I think you're onto something" without having to vote, as a founder, for the actual feature. More of a nod of respect for the person's opinion than any sort of commitment to actually building the feature. For instance, you're feeling an urge to like my comment right now, aren't you? ;)
Thanks for adding onto this @Chris Scott, Co-Founder, I definitely wanted to like your comment 😉
@Sarah Hum: exactly :) I keep on adding smiley faces but I would like to have a like button
Hmmm I'm not really sure what a like adds over an upvote, seems like overlapping functionality. What does a like/heart do that vote doesn't?
Dude, come on ... If I'd like to add a like to your comment, I can't. There's no quick way of me showing you that I took the liberty to read what you wrote, instead I have to reply "yeah, I like that too, good idea."
A vote means: I vote to have that feature.
A like means: I read what you wrote and am good with it. It saves time, and makes me want to engage. If there's no fast way of me being able to acknowledge what someone wrote, then I'm less likely to use the specific software, because ... I like showing that I read someones post, I like showing that what other people write is important to me ...
@Marcin: I'm warming up to the idea. Do you envision this feature being specifically for comments or for posts as well?
BTW thanks for chiming in @masad_f.
@Andrew Rasmussen: I don't care to much about the post itself - I'm not sure if someone would like to "like" without upvoting, so maybe the post is good without the like. But the comments ... definitely ;)
@Marcin: A quick side note to this. If someone suggests a feature, let's say "Localization" and people comment languages they want to see. People who also speak that language can just like/upvote that comment. Would let us know which language they care most about.
Comment Votes + making upvotes public (https://feedback.canny.io/feature-requests/p/make-upvotes-public) should achieve this
That would be good, public upvote, but I'm telling you ... a little heart is faster, and people already understand it (twitter), upvoting is upvoting and people don't get that you can say got it by upvoting, they do get that you can do that with a like or heart. I know you don't want to clutter things up, but you could have it show upon hover.
