Sarah Hum this feature just appeared on our canny board in the last week and has caused a lot of confusion for our team. It would be great if it would default to public instead of internal as I believe internal comments can only be seen by Admins - is that correct? There have been a lot of comments that have been missed by integral stakeholders as a result of this feature as no one notified us that this feature would be rolled out and the majority of users did not notice and do not know that they need to toggle the radio button every time they make a comment.

Hi Profitable Mackerel, sorry for the surprise here. That's correct, internal comments can only be seen by Admins.
To shed some light, this internal comments feature has been available for a couple years now. We just recently switched it so that comments are internal by default and you need to toggle it to be public. We made this change because an accidental internal comment is much less damaging than accidental public comments where it's possible that hundreds of people are notified via email. It's unlikely that we'll make the switch back but I'm confident your team will get the hang of it. Hope that makes sense!

This will be wildly helpful. The only thing that would make this better is permission levels to control who can and can't see and post. We have this same feature in our support desk but it has happened where the support agent forgot to mark the note as private and not public. I am interested to see what this looks like.

Hi Eburnean Salamander, the internal comments feature has been out now for a while. It is on our Growth plan though and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. Sorry!

This would be super useful. We would use this not only to leave notes/discuss with the team but to link to our github issues or project management tasks so all info is linked together nicely. We don't use Jira.

If I were to prioritize one new feature to ask for - this is it. Right now I have to bridge our bug tracking system with Canny and it is a manual and archaic process. Would strongly prefer to just have Canny as the single source of truth for all of our product updates. Bonus for you is that it increases our engagement with your product.
