Custom attributes and feedback segmentation
complete
Sarah Hum
We've been thinking about this one a lot recently.
A few use cases:
You have two groups of users: free and paid. You can segment to only show feedback from your paid users.
You are a marketplace with buyers and sellers. You can segment to only show feedback from sellers.
You want to focus on your most loyal customers. You can segment to only show feedback from customers who signed up more than a year ago.
We'd love to hear if you'd like this feature and how you would use it.

User metadata

Would be awesome to be able to add user (and company, when you support it) meta data to a post. So for example we know if a user is an enterprise user or an individual, or if the company they belong to is $100/mo or $1000/mo in revenue, or how many users they have in the company (are they small or large), or what plan they are on (clinic vs group) etc etc.
It would be really helpful if we could push this data into Canny via the API so that we can run smart filters on things like, give me all the features request from 'enterprise accounts' who are greater than $1000/mo in revenue. As one example.
One other feature would be to add up the MRR for all the companies that have voted for the feature. If we are passing in MRR as a parameter, you could assign a MRR sum against the feature and sort based on that.
Just a few ideas.

Howdy All,
We have completed the custom fields and user segmentation feature and have released it for all Growth+ plans! You can learn more in our documentation and our Changelog Entry linked below.

Yes please, we have different users in our platform but just a segment of those are the ones we actually want to build the product for

Hi all! We're excited to say that we will be working on custom attributes and segmentation really soon. We have a good idea of how we would build this but now is the time to share your input.
Comment below or shoot us a message to tell us more about your use case. Any feedback helps!

Sarah Hum: would love the ability to populate the fields with my own data when authenticating a user.
Sarah Hum
Thanks Bisque Wolf. That's the plan! You'll be able to define your custom attributes and send over the data via Canny Identify. How would you like to use this data once it's in Canny?

As this post is now >1 year old I wonder if it is still under review 😉
So what you really want is the ability for an admin to classify each user / org in their own classification. Or it will immediately lead to "can we add more" if you made it binary.
To provide some examples one may want to classify the users/orgs using its software as:
> $X,XXX per annum
> $XX,XXX per annum
> $XXX,XXX per annum
Or they might want to classify them as:
Prospect (USPs Needed)

Churn potential
Discontinuing
When you look at completed tasks you can see how many did we do for our highest paying customers. Was it proportionate.
How many items were built to prevent churn in x period. How does churn compare with y period if the number was double in x period.
How many USPs were delivered in period x - did sales increase as a result of increased numbers?

We have different subscription levels which would be useful to consider here too, rather than just "free" and "paid". It would be good to know how that maps to feature requests and how much customer MRR is behind a post and subsequent votes on that post.

I could see us using this.

This would be a great one. We have a few different customer types from different industries. It would be helpful to be able to segment those posts by industry type.
