Widget dark theme

Andrew Rasmussen
So it plays nicely with a dark background.

Little feedback: when integrating canny on a SPA the SPA can change theme wuith a button.
As far as I understand "re-rendering" the widget with the new theme won't work: we have to trash the previous canny DOM element and re-execute "render" with a new theme.
That would be better if you gave us an api to toggle ther canny widget theme without unmounting.
IE show us what to do in this snippet, assuming the "theme" will not be hardcoded but instead coming from a React context provider, and used in the dependency array

Olive Mouse: +1 This is very important and I also mentioned this in my comment below but that was seemingly ignored while developing.

Sarah Hum: Could you add please a button in the dashboard to de/activate it. Thanks!

The dark changelog needs a little more love/work.
There are some issues:
- It's white flickering for a few milliseconds on the initial load.
- The borders are too white/flashing.
Maybe that's just me, I'll test in different browsers/displays.
Thanks anyways! Canny is awesome!

Sarah Hum: Hi there, I can't seem to get this to work, I pass in theme: "dark" and it doesn't override it. Is there a new version of the SDK I have to download somehow? I am just using "https://canny.io/sdk.js"

actually somehow it started working again but I see a weird bottom white bar

Sarah Hum: Thanks a ton Sarah, will work on it for https://www.taskade.com/feedback
- Do you know how we can make the /feedback pages indexable by Google, search engine friendly, perhaps with SSR?
- Regarding SSO, do you have any tips on how we can make that work with the widget? Our app is on taskade.com, our marketing pages are also on taskade.com (using nextjs)
Cheers

Glad to hear it Absinthe green Vicuna!
- Unfortunately we don't have an SSR version of the widget so I don't think this would be possible. Setting up a custom domain could be an option here.
- You mean so people have to be logged in to see the widget? I believe the option here is to detect if the user is logged in, if not, don't render the widget and render log in instead. Does that make sense?

Sarah Hum: Thanks, we have updated it on https://taskade.com/feedback. For #2 it was more of a question on how to get SSO setup given our cross-domain implementation of taskade landing and app on the same root domain level.
Adam Laycock
Absinthe green Vicuna: Hi John!
SSO doesn't have any special requirements regarding cross-domain apps, you just need to drop that SSO token into the widget configuration, see the docs here. It shouldn't matter what part of the app it's coming from.
I'd be happy to dig into the details of this with you. Drop us a support message via the Intercom button in the bottom corner of this page and I can try to get a better understanding of the problems you're running into.

Sure, please take a look at www.taskade.com/reviews vs www.taskade.com/feedback
Ideally the canny widget can offer dark theme similar to our widget for the reviews page. Thanks!

Hey folks, we're currently taking a look at this feature. Now is a great time to comment with any suggestions if you haven't already.
Feel free to start a chat in Canny if you have any questions!

Jasper Mockingbird: Awesome! This probably goes without saying, but please make it re-configurable without reloading, i.e. a setTheme type method.
R
Rolling Whitefish
Jasper Mockingbird: awesome! Please make the widget continue to have a transparent background (or let us choose the bg color) so it can be embedded seamlessly.

My team and I would really love this Andrew Rasmussen. according to https://earthweb.com/how-many-people-use-dark-mode/ 81% of smartphone users use dark mode. It's on the rise and many websites default to dark mode as part of their aesthetic. Thank you!

Please also vote for this feature, which could also be used to make a dark theme for a widget (plus more)

please please implement this. it looks really stupid in my darkmode app, and is honestly just embarrassing for both me and canny.

Is there a real reason to merge back-office into this? Please decouple if possible. Doing this on just user facing widget part seems to be way easier and way more important than restyling back-office.

Tremendous Ptarmigan: yess! please dont push this years down the line just because it's similar to another feature which would require far more work!

Maybe something like this.
