Show linked feedback items in public changelog entry

It would be really nice if you could link Feedback Items to a Changelog Entry. Sure, you could find the feedback, copy the URL, and add a link to it in the entry, but I'm looking for something more convenient and two way.
With my use case, you should be able to link multiple feedback items to a single entry. And the feedback item should have a link back to the entry as well.
Here is what my basic release workflow is:
- When I'm done with a feedback item, I mark it as complete (but it hasn't been released yet).
- Once I release the version with the feedback item, I create a changelog entry highlighting the important changes.

I can't believe there is a way to link feature request items to a change log entry, but they are not listed on the change log itself. That means I have to either manually create links to all items myself. I could see maybe letting the admin turn this on or off if not everybody wants it.
All I would like is a simple list. i.e.
Items in this release:
- Item 1 Title (link)
- Item 2 Title (link)

Thanks for the feedback Fawn Anglerfish. The main reason we chose not to include these is because it feels kind of backwards. We can see the list of items itself being useful but having it link back to the original feedback post? Why is reading the original feature request helpful for someone who is reading a change log? Would love to hear your thoughts here.

Sarah Hum: Because the original request includes the full context of the original request, possibly an extensive discussion about that request, how it could be implemented, etc. If I can't link back to the full issue with all of that information, then I will have to retype a lot of it to explain the feature, how it works, and why it was added. Happy to just copy and paste links back to the issues manually if nobody else will find this helpful.

Fawn Anglerfish: Thanks for this! At least on our team, we don't use any of the information from the original post. It's often more distracting/confusing because there's discussion on how the idea could be implemented but not how it ended up being implemented. Interesting that's not really the case for you so we'll keep an eye on this. Thanks again!

Agree with this!
Hoping for 2 things:
- When creating a changelog entry, I can more easily "import" any relevant completed posts that could pre-populate the body of the changelog
- On the public view, users can see all the linked posts to see more details about how the change came to be.
Taking a step back - the main problem with the the way things are now is that it takes a long time to write out each Changelog entry. Thanks Sarah Hum!

Definitely agree with Noah. I've just being going through feature requests, marking them as "Complete". It'd be super useful if there was an option to publish these newly completed feature requests to a Changelog.

I agree with everyone. It could be nice to have the feedback link ready to use in the edit mode or an automated list with all the linked post for the public to view. They might need to see what specific problem we solved.
Also, in the admin interface, after we linked a post we can't click on it to go there if needed, and that's too bad.

Hi Noah, please see "Linked Posts" in the left sidebar while you're creating an entry. Sounds like what you're looking for.

Sarah Hum: That is kinda what I'm looking for. But it seems like it lacks a few things like the two-way link (a link to the entry on the feedback) and it doesn't look like it actually shows publicly that they are linked.
Does that make sense?
Sarah Hum
Central Macaw: You mean this?
It doesn't show that they are linked on the public changelog entry. This is by design. Once something is launched we didn't think people really cared what feedback it came from. Let us know if you feel strongly.

Sarah Hum: I agree with Noah, we assumed this would be possible too. I think it'd be nice to have a toggle to literally list the linked posts at the bottom of the changelog post so people can see them and click through if required.
Currently we'd have to manually type them in which seems strange when you already have the data if we've linked them up. Thanks!

Sarah Hum: I think your assumption is partially correct. To me value to this feature is that the changelog could be pre-populate with Feedback items that have transitioned to Completed. I wouldn't expect it to publish for me but it would be nice to have a summary of what is Completed as a starting point for the/a changelog.

Sarah Hum: As mentioned by other, this can be really interesting for users to be able to understand the thinking that led to this feature development. You can see that as a spec details.
In our case, our Product Designers / Managers are interacting with users to design, mockup, gather the needs, and results could be shared along the way of the development through Canny. By making it public on the changelog this would help give visibility and transparency on why choices have been made this way.
