Search for terms in both title and comments

Currently you can only search for terms in the original post, not in the comments. Would be great to have the option to search either or both, so that you can find important terms wherever they get posted.

FYI, I am finding the search feature to be unintelligible. It seems to search for similar words to the one I entered, and returns results that do not contain the single word I search for.
Andrew Rasmussen
Hi Adjacent Lion! Do you mind sharing the exact URL with us where you did a search and the results you were looking for didn't show up? Can you also include a link to the post that you were looking for?
You can send that over to andrew@canny.io and I'd love to dig in. Thanks!

I agree! I would like for the search to include Public and Private comments so that I can easily find posts that relate to keywords, even if they're not mentioned in the original title or post.
A submitter may request a solution (feature) and I want to either have the (Canny online) conversation with them discussing the problem the feature is intended to solve.
Or I want to make my own (private) notes using words that I am likely to search for in the future.
I could use Tags but then I'm doing 2 searches: One for keywords and one for tags. And how many tags would I need to create?

Not only this, but if I'm searching for a word in the title I don't get any results unless the word starts exactly the same as my search term.
For example if I were to search for "earch" I get no results, even if there are several results for "search".

Ripe Gecko: At least it's not case sensitive ;)

Also consider including previous versions of the post (prior to an edit). Often times I recall keywords, BUT another admin has changed the title (or in the worst cases, merged the post)- thus I cannot find the original post with ease....

I'm also surprised this isn't already a feature. The search is too limiting if only looking at post subject/body. Comments should generally be included in searches.

Merged in a post:
Add the internal comments to Search
M
Magenta Rattlesnake
If I'm searching for particular keywords the internal comments does not show up
E
Emerald Antelope
Having the option to search in comments by "ticking" a box would probably be a good workaround to not pollute normal search-results.

Hard to believe this isn’t already a feature. The list quickly becomes unmanageable once you pass 20 items. For both users and admins.
Andrew Rasmussen
Gray Wildebeest: Hey Matthew, could you be a bit more specific about how it's unmanageable? Our feature requests board has well over 200 items and I don't find it unmanageable. Obviously I'm biased, but would still love to know more!

Andrew Rasmussen: If I may, FinFolio is talking about both users and admins.
As an admin, I really don't have the time to know my Canny backlog by heart, and yeah, it's true that it's very hard to find some posts that were created a while ago.
As a user, it's even worse. Many of them aren't willing to spend ages on searching the right post to engage with. They use Google on a daily basis and expect the same kind of search. If, with their first input, they don't find what they like, they just create another post, which needs to be dealt with (and often simply merged).

Cloudy Swift: exactly my sentiment. I am a User and was trying to search for an issue without adding new Post or Comment you Admin side need to review without adding value.
Search/Filtering in Features is also an issue likely overwhelming Admin with useless duplicate comments. Simple features like:
- Sort comments by likes or thread reply count
- Filter (search) comments by search term
Focus on removing the noise for the Admin (including yourselves) and you can focus on working on the issue rather than just trying to get through the noise to the issues.
And from post/comments here I'm guessing that for Admin searching by only private or "helpful" tagged comments is not yet possible and would further reduce noise in search results allowing them to get back to the key information in the feature.
