Make Roadmap scale better for lots of posts

I absolutely love the new Roadmap view, but my one critique is that I feel like it doesn't scale well when you have a lot of items.
IMO, I feel like the design feels really squished, and the scrolling-within boxes feels awkward. If the items line up with the bottom of the box, you might not even realize that it's scrollable.
It's not entirely clear how many items are on each list (a total count would be great too!)
It seems like it would work much better if all three lists just flowed naturally down the page rather than scrolling within their own boxes.

100% on board with this one. It would be nice to see a nicer view of roadmaps on the public view. I've had feedback that users think there are only a few items in the list, and due to the lack of visible scrollbars, don't tend to scroll.

It would be great if there was a scrollbar on the roadmap view. As others have noted, until you try to drag down or see more on the roadmap view, you don't know that there are more items than the four or five that show up. If there was a scrollbar for each section it would be much more user friendly for someone who doesn't already know there are many more items on the roadmap.

On my computer it looks like there are only 3 items on my roadmap. There are zero visual queues to let the user know you are supposed to scroll inside the lists, no down arrows, no scroll bars etc. Bad UX on the roadmap page. I don't see any reason to limit the number of items on the page. It should be the same scroll behaviour as the idea list...an infinite scroll.
I really can't see any reason not to show all of the items on the page at once. Seems a bit outdated and confusing this way.

I totally agree. Also, as you cannot adjust the order of items (there's another ticket here for that), it might happen that the most important feature you are working on doesn't seem to be there at all. It took me a moment to realize the boxes are scrollable, and I noticed it only because I put an item to "in Progress" and it seemingly didn't show up.

Thanks for the feedback Dan. What we noticed was most people end up having a long list of complete posts and very few planned/in progress. In that case, having the lists just flow is pretty awkward. Maybe we put a cap on complete posts. It's something we'll have to think more about.

Sarah Hum: An in-between option would be to allow the scrollable box to extend down to the bottom of the page if there are enough posts to fill it. Right now the boxes don't take into account how tall your browser window is and caps the height of the box, creating a weird situation where you are scrolling within a little box on a page that has a ton of white space available.
