We would like to see this feature to make it easier to comply with GDPR-type requests when a user requests a copy of their personal data.
Ideally the export would contain the user's posts, votes, and comments. Ideally it would be requestable using an API so that it could be automated.
Are you planning to implement this?
Can you offer a workaround in the meantime?
@Iain Samuel McLean Elder: Hey Iain, we have an API endpoint where you can retrieve a user. You can also fetch posts and votes, filtered by user/author ID.
Interestingly, we don't have a way to fetch comments filtered by author ID. If you need this filter, I'd be happy to add it for you.
After that, it'd be pretty straightforward for you to write a script that fetches a user's ID from their email, and then fetches all of their posts, comments, and votes.
@Andrew Rasmussen: Thank you for sharing. We would like to have the comments as well if possible.
We would prefer to be able to retrieve all this data with a single API call if possible.
Is this feature on the roadmap?
@Iain Samuel McLean Elder: Hey Iain, I've marked this post as Planned to indicate we intend on building it soon, but haven't started development yet. Stay tuned!
@Andrew Rasmussen: That's great news! We look forward to it.
