Attach 💵 bounty to feature request

Given some of us are developing software that users are willing to pay for and sometimes with a lot of money...
I had this idea where people could upvote a feature request with money.
e.g.
> Develop a Salesforce integration
> initial bounty: 2000$
This would be a hard commitment with credit card.
Anyone could bump the bounty.
You manage the transactions and keep a fee, ala Kickstarter. 🎉

Crowdfunding feature requests

On GitHub, some (technical) projects use tools like GitPay or IssueHunt to allow users to fund issues (features/bugfixes). I think it would be a great idea to have an option for projects on Canny to allow end users to invest directly in requests they care about. For example, by giving each user a monthly spend in points (based on their subscription tier). This way, only invested users would be able to vote on feedback (instead of everyone).

Hello Retired Hoverfly! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details on how you envision the allocation of points based on subscription tiers?
- How would you like the system to handle situations where multiple users are interested in funding the same feature request?
- Do you have any suggestions on how we can ensure fairness and prevent misuse of this feature?

Wonder if this could be done by some integration with Bountysource? (Have used bountysource in the past and they are compatible with Github issues where you can just easily put a bounty on any Github issue. But the project that I want to support doesn't have their Github issues public, only has Canny)

Sounds like another startup idea to me, nice idea but rather tricky

This would be amazing. For some technical projects, the financial commitment could be quite large. For example, Expo - I'd be willing to pay $500 for some features that would take me at least that much time in dollars to implement.
A hard commitment is way more credible.

It could be in Bitcoin! :)

I like the idea of being able to associate money with a feature request. This would basically let Canny keep track of "X said they'd pay $Y for Z feature". At a certain stage, it becomes difficult (and expensive) to keep track of financial commitments.
The hard commitment with credit card is too aggressive and out of scope, for now at least.

Great idea!
