Allow customers to pre-pay for features

Upvotes are great. Dollars can also be helpful to see how serious customers are about new features.

It might be interesting if customers could pre-pay for a feature to show how serious they are. Perhaps they could back it in a Kickstarter style. Just an idea.

Hey Rainy Hookworm, definitely an interesting idea. I think a related idea is for the sales team being able to say "if we built X then Y would pay us $Z more". Or for support team being able to say "if we built X then Y would turn from 😕 to 😊" (to drive customer satisfaction / retention).
At the core, Canny is a bipartite graph where one set of nodes are users and the other set is features you could build. All of these ideas are ways of storing more information on the edge between nodes (right now it's just a simple vote).
Definitely something to explore down the road. Thanks for sharing this idea, first time we've heard it!
