We have the roadmap to tell users what's coming. What about an official changelog to communicate what's recently changed?
We'd probably add a "under review" status, change the roadmap columns to [under review, planned, in progress], and then move "complete" to the changelog.

Hi Andrew Rasmussen I have tried out the widget for the Changelog and it is fab...except I want to solely surface Canny content to customers via the widget.
So can we:
a) Have an option that allows a full page option like the current feedback widget (ideally)
b) Or at least have the ability to remove the link back to canny.
I have a microsite with security on it and don't want anyone leaving this area.

It would be great if there was a way to tell our app when there's something new in the changelog so we can show a different button. Even better, but probably difficult/impossible, would also be telling us when a user is up to date with viewing the changelog. That way we could highlight something new and once they'd viewed it, stop hassling them until there's something new to see.

Sarah Hum: Yes - sorry I should have been clearer. I am talking specifically about the widget. As far as I am aware you can only do a static button at the moment. Is that correct?

Maroon Coyote: We add a red badge to the button when there's something new for the user to see. Is that what you're looking for?

Sarah Hum: Perfect. How does that work? Is it clever enough to know whether the logged in user has viewed the information?

Maroon Coyote: It's not based specifically on the user but on their browser. For most cases, it should work as you expect :)
You can see the badge if you visit https://developers.canny.io/install/changelog in incognito. You can also customize the badge.

I love that there's a beta for this, but one thing I would suggest is not to call it a changelog. Many users may not understand the term "changelog" I would suggest maybe calling "What's New" or "Site Updates" or possibly let us be able to customize the name. :)

Hey Andrew Rasmussen, I'm just trialing the Beta (it's awesome!) and I'm wondering if an in-product widget for updates is on the roadmap?
I agree with Coffee Meerkat's comment about Intercom's Product Changes. I've been looking for something similar.

I am quite looking forward to this. We currently use Canny and I love it's simplicity. Recently we've definitely felt the need to have a release announcement centre and/or product changelog.
I think Intercom do this absolutely brilliantly, but it seems like a self-built feature: https://app.intercom.io/a/changes

Hi, here are some specifications that I would love to see with this new integration:
* Categorize by release (Allow to add a tag to completed posts like v3.10 or any other text)
* Select the post to add to the changelog (Not all posts are features or bug reports, some are just questions that would prefer to not show there)
